Kentish Town is characterised by its mix of uses and strong industrial heritage. The intention therefore in preparing this design was to provide a creative community where the commercial and residential uses enjoy a symbiotic relationship that would expand into and complement the wider neighbourhood.
By consulting closely with Camden Council, we took the approach that the existing industrial buildings contribute greatly to the Conservation Area and it’s urban grain, and should be retained.
The new buildings were therefore expressed as being contemporary and distinct but would inhabit the walls of the old buildings. The scheme was approved to provide 9 new houses and a creative business centre.
