With resistance from the Planning Authority we were eventually able to achieve our client’s requirements for increasing and improving their house layout by utilizing Householder Permitted Development allowances, to extend the roof space and provide a rear extension, with the side stair extension permission gained through a subsequent successful Planning appeal.
The existing internal layout didnt allow for an additional stair to the loft conversion and so, by shifting the lower flight outside the side wall we were able to make the first floor layout more conducive to such, and enable a more rational arrangement of the ground floor living spaces.
The external stair extension also enabled us to improve the entrance porch/lobby and accommodate a downstairs toilet separate from the living spaces.
