A planning restriction on the site meant that an additional structure could not be provided under householder permitted development rights, and so we were required to gain planning permission for this 1-bed live/work annexe buidling.

Whilst ensuring the brief was met, with regards to the usage of the building and retaining practical garden space around the structure, we produced an attractive, contemporary design to provide extended family living accommodation, linked with the main house via a canopy pathway.

Neighbouring amenity space, natural light, privacy, internal storage, and energy efficiency were key elements driving the design. The result is a compact, asymetical form with a habitable loft space and large shaded windows, dark engineering brick and seamed zinc roof.
