The flat roof of the shop to the rear of this high street mixed-use building presented an opportunity for development in a sustainable, central location. Others had however failed to achieve consent due to the constrained nature of the mews and lack of outlook.
We prepared a design that responded to the site constraints, to allow light in through a brick screen and to focus the view along the mews to the adjoining street.
Despite initial scepticism at pre-application stage, this design led-approach to the site allowed Redbridge Council to approve the design within the 8-week time limit.
We worked closely with planning consultants Collective Planning to achieve consent.
