In 2010, the country’s largest student housing developer – Unite, together with Travis Perkins Builders’ Merchants, appointed us (then known as Cooley Architects) to undertake the design of a major new development in St Pancras, London.
A unanimous decision of Camden’s Development Control Committee approved the design which when completed, provided 571 student rooms over a new state of the art facility for Travis Perkins.
Although the area has grown up around it, at the time, our design was a significant new addition to the general building mass. Our close working relationship with planning consultants and the Local Authority was crucial in securing the approval.
This project is cited by a number of Local Authorities as an exemplar of how industrial and residential uses can be designed to coexist successfully.
